Charge iPhone faster
It can be frustrating to watch the battery percentage slowly fill up with little time to charge the iPhone. Fortunately, there are a few things you can do to speed up the process. Below we provide tips for faster charging of your iPhone.
1. Enable Airplane mode
If you want to go for the fastest loading time possible, there’s no better setting than Airplane Mode. This feature stops all wireless traffic, including connecting to Wi-Fi and searching for a mobile signal. These connections are the biggest load on the battery.
You do the settings by opening the Control Panel. On an iPhone with Face ID, swipe down from the top right of the screen. For an iPhone with a home button, swipe up from the bottom of the screen. Then tap the button with the plane at the top left. If it is orange, Airplane mode is activated.
2. Energy saving mode
If you still want to use your iPhone while charging or remain reachable, Airplane Mode is not a good idea. This makes it impossible to use the internet, as well as calling or apping. It is better to enable Energy Saving Mode.
Power saving mode reduces power consumption, for example by preventing apps from refreshing in the background. Emails are also sent less often and the refresh rate is reduced with a ProMotion screen.
How to enable Energy Saving Mode:
- Open the Settings app;
- Tap on ‘Battery’;
- Activate the ‘Energy saving mode’.

Use the correct charger
The charger you use is also important. The fastest way to charge your iPhone is with a 20W fast charger. This will get you a dead iPhone battery in half an hour at about 50 percent battery. The iPhone 8 (from 2017) and newer support fast charging.
In any case, do not charge your iPhone via your MacBook: that is the slowest method. This is even slower than with the small 5 Watt power adapter. Wireless charging is possible at a speed of up to 7.5 watts (if your wireless charger supports it). If you don’t have a fast charger, this is the fastest way.
