No time right now?

Marcin Iwinski, co-founder of CD Projekt Red, apologized for the severely flawed game Cyberpunk 2077 via video. Announced DLC should be put on hold for the time being.

Cyberpunk 2077 was probably the most anticipated game of the past year, but disappointed the gaming community due to the many bugs – especially in the console version. The Gamestudio CD Projekt Red behind it is now threatened with an investigation by the Polish competition authority. In addition, disappointed investors have filed a lawsuit. One of the co-founders of CD Projekt Red, Marcin Iwinski, has now spoken out via YouTube video.

Iwinski apologized for the fact that the version for Xbox One and Playstation 4 did not meet the quality standards. “I and the entire management team are very sorry about that,” said Iwinski, who also took personal responsibility. Disappointed gamers shouldn’t blame the team for mistakes. After all, the developers are all very talented and work hard. There has been positive feedback for the PC version.

Cyberpunk 2077: Too big ambitions for the PC

According to Iwinski, a large part of the problems with games on older hardware can be traced back to the great ambitions for the PC version. Cyberpunk 2077 is huge. And a large number of user-defined objects and interacting systems have been packed into a large city. In addition, the environment does not require a lot of reloading. When trying to make the game look epic on PC, the game makers found it difficult to adapt this to consoles, especially the older ones.

In addition to the apology, Iwinsky also had less good news for Cyberpunk 2077 fans, such as CNBC writes. Because the release of the planned free DLC for the game has to be postponed. First, the team must focus on fixing the biggest bugs and distributing updates. Only then could the DLC be made available.

First update in the coming days

In a corresponding FAQ on the CD-Projekt Red website it means that more information about the free DLC will be announced in the coming months. A first update should come in the next ten days. A bigger and even more important update will follow in the weeks after that. Dedicated versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X will follow in the second half of the year.
