OnePlus Nord Buds review
Under the guise of “Blow the beat”, OnePlus comes with these Nord Buds that must also have Dolby Atmos support. Whether that actually results in better sound remains to be seen. As is common with most wireless in-ears, you have approximately 30 hours of playing time in combination with the case.
In the package
OnePlus supplies the Nord Buds with three different sizes of earplugs and a USB-C charging cable. Furthermore, a number of booklets are included with information and a manual. Even more important are the buds themselves, which we find in a fairly large black case. What is striking is that the case is quite large and does not fit well in your pocket. What is nice about the packaging is that OnePlus has come up with three different designs for the inside of the packaging.
In use
The earphones are connected to our device in no time and you can start listening and the sound quality of these in-ears is certainly not bad, the lows and mids are well adjusted and only the highs should be a little less shrill. But you can go a lot of directions with the equalizer for that. Still, you could say that these in-ears don’t quite belong in the budget segment.
The Sound Master EQ lets you adjust your listening preferences with a six-channel equalizer. By default you will find four different recommended positions. Where “Powerful” comes with a recommended label, we won’t recommend this position, because the high is unpleasant to listen to. You’re better off with the standard preset or a custom preset where you mainly lower the bass and leave the mids and highs horizontal.
Do not expect noise canceling on these 50 euro earphones, but the in-ears close well and you will therefore not be bothered by ambient noise. For telephone calls, there is an AI noise reduction that ensures better intelligibility.
Battery life
Not entirely unimportant is the battery life, which in practice is around 6.5 hours, after which the in-ears are completely empty. Because you put them back in the case in between, they are recharged fairly quickly. This way you can at least 25 hours ahead on these Nord Buds.
Rating
For fifty euros, OnePlus has put a nice set of in-ears on the market with the Nord Buds, which also sound pretty good. However, the high must be turned down a bit in the equalizer. If you plan to use these in-ears for a whole working day, you may need to top up in the meantime.
The OnePlus Nord Buds will cost you 49 euros. You can purchase the headset directly from Coolblue, OnePlus itself, Knaldeals and Belsimpel.
