Bluepoint Games are working on some own project -apkrig

When we wrote yesterday immediately after the announcement of the acquisition that Sony had bought the Bluepoint Games studio, it was not immediately clear what the authors would work on next. We asked ourselves whether these would be other remasters and remakes, or whether they would embark on something new and their own, as has long been speculated in the corridors. The second option turned out to be the right one. IGN magazine brought its own exclusive material for this occasion, which revealed several interesting details.

First of all, we learned that the Demon’s Souls remake has already sold over 1.4 million copies. Bluepoint have not yet announced their next project, but studio president Marco Thrush has said they plan to work on original content in the future. However, it is still not quite certain whether “original content” means a completely new brand, a new game from an established series or, for example, new content for an existing title. But it clearly seems that the authors will not really limit themselves to improving existing games.

“We have experience in developing our own games.”

Thrush revealed that their next project they are working on is original, but they can’t talk about it yet. However, according to him, this is another evolutionary step of the team. However, he also noted that they had already partially added some of their own content to the last remakes. Thanks to this, the studio grew personally, but also with experience. According to Thrush, the authors examined the transition from remasters to remakes and moved to the next step.

When the God of War Collection was released in 2009, only about 15 people worked on it. They now have 70 employees, and there were 95 of them while working at Demon’s Souls and thanks to their colleagues. They are said to have a very experienced team, in which most people have been working in the field for about 15 years. And everyone has experience developing their own games. According to Thrush, it’s not just doing remasters and remakes. That’s why, with the help of Sony, they are now ready to show what they can do. Thus, Thrush clearly indicates that they have ambitions to “step out of their own shadow”.

Sony is still looking for other teams

But we will probably have to wait longer for the next Bluepoint game, because it will take more time to create something of your own than previous projects. PlayStation Studios boss Hermen Hulst said in an interview with IGN that Sony did not expect results immediately and was making the acquisition due to the long-term effect. According to him, the authors need time for the games to be of good quality, and at the same time the studio and its people had the opportunity to work in reasonable conditions. According to Hulst, people and their health come first.

According to Hulst Bluepoint, they know the PlayStation like few others, thanks to the fact that they have worked with so many teams on so many iconic brands. He also indicated that even after the last acquisition and the previous ones (Firesprite, Nixxes, Housemarque) Sony may not have enough. Now they have 16 internal teams as part of PlayStation Studios and are said to be still open to establishing new partnerships and expanding in-house studios. But it must share the same values and bring something new.
