Beyond and Steel Sky from the author of Broken Sword aim at the -apkrig console

Charles Cecil’s Beyond and Steel Sky adventure and Revolution Software studios were released last June on Mac, iOS and Apple TV, and in July on PC. The French company Microids has now announced that the game will also arrive on the console. Owners of the PS4, Xbox One and Switch should look forward to it in the third quarter of this year.

Whereas until now the game was available on the Apple Arcade service and on Steam, now, in addition to digital versions, we can also look forward to a box. Beyond A Steel Sky is a sequel to the classic Beneath and Steel Sky from 1994. The game is set decades after the original and takes us to the dystopian cyberpunk Union City.

Charles Cecil especially appreciates Microids for specializing in adventure, which is true. We associate them with the Syberia series, for example.

The aesthetic side of the game was imprinted by the famous comic book artist Dave Gibbons, whom you may know, for example, thanks to the Watchmen opus. After all, the game really looks like an animated comic. The main character is Robert Foster, who is looking for a kidnapped child. The tracks will lead him to the aforementioned Union City, one of the last megacities.

Of course, both companies praise the partnership. Charles Cecil especially appreciates Microids for specializing in adventure, which is true. We associate them with the Syberia series, for example. This should make them an ideal partner for Beyond and Steel Sky.

Beyond a Steel Sky sells on Steam for 30 euros and comes with a free comic book prologue. You will then pay approximately 7 euros for the soundtrack. Recently, a commentary from the developers has been added to the game, which reveals more about the title, its background and creation. Commentary was provided by Charles Cecil, Dave Gibbons and other people from various departments throughout the team. The comment can optionally be turned on and off during the game, but the authors warn that it may touch the spoilers if you haven’t finished Beyond and Steel Sky yet.

The game collected quite nice marks in the reviews, but lower than expected. The Metacritic average is around 70 percent. Directly on Steam, 88 percent of players evaluate the game positively, and it was rated very well by, for example, PC Gamer magazine.
