Best Android tablets that cost less than 300 euros (2022)

Tablets are gaining popularity again and it is noticeable that we are seeing more and more tablets from the low and middle segment. Brands such as Nokia and TCL are launching their first models on the Dutch market. We discuss the very best affordable tablets of the moment.

1. Lenovo Tab P11 Plus

Last year Lenovo launched the Tab P11 Plus, an Android 11 tablet that appeared in the Netherlands with a large 128 GB storage and 4 GB RAM. The Tab P11 Plus remains a budget tablet, of course, and that’s why it has an IPS LCD screen, but it is a relatively large 11-inch size and there is a Full HD resolution. The housing also has room for four speakers and a 3.5 mm audio jack, but unfortunately there is no 3.5 mm audio jack or a fingerprint scanner. The battery is a 7700 mAh one and can be charged with a 20W fast charger.

A strong point of the Lenovo P11 Plus is the 13 MP rear camera and the 8 MP front camera. Most tablets in this price range have even simpler sensors. In addition, with the Mediatek Helio G90T, it is one of the fastest devices in the price segment.

The Tab P11 Plus is optionally available with a Precision Pen 2 stylus and Lenovo is also releasing a keyboard cover for this tablet. For example, it makes it useful for taking notes. The Tab P11 Plus will receive updates until January 2023.

2. Samsung Galaxy Tab A8

In our opinion, the Lenovo Tab P11 Plus can share its title of best tablet in this price range with the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8. This device has a slightly smaller 10.5 inch screen and it is a slightly simpler TFT LCD screen with a Full HD resolution. Due to the smaller size, there is a slightly smaller 7040 mAh battery and charging can be done with a 15W fast charger.

Samsung is going for a simpler camera setup with an 8 MP camera on the back and a 5 MP selfie camera. it makes the tablet less ideal for video calling. Still, the Tab A8 does have a few trump cards compared to the Lenovo tablet. It comes with a fingerprint scanner on the side and there is a 3.5 mm audio jack. The tablet also has a microSD slot and four speakers.

On the other hand, the performance is about equal thanks to the use of an equivalent Unisoc Tiger T618 chipset along with 4 GB of RAM. Although you pay a lot more with Samsung if you want 128 GB of storage, such as with the Lenovo. And it also has to lose out in the field of accessories, because there is no S Pen or keyboard case. However, Samsung does have another asset, namely its update policy. The tablet is still entitled to a small four years of security updates.

Alternatives?

In the fall of 2021, Nokia arrived with its first Android tablet. The Nokia T20 has a 10.4 inch IPS LCD screen. It’s not the fastest with its Unisoc T610, but it comes with a remarkably large 8200 mAh battery that lasts for days. In addition, the T20 has a handsome aluminum housing. Finally, there are only two speakers and there is no fingerprint scanner on this Nokia tablet. You can read everything about this device in our review. The device costs 219 euros and that makes it interesting despite its compromises.

The Lenovo Tab M10 Plus (Gen 3) is still fresh off the press and has just hit the stores (Coolblue). This is already a tablet to keep an eye on. It has a 10.6 inch screen and works with a MediaTek G80 chipset. It is interesting that it immediately appears with Android 12 and will certainly receive the update to Android 13. The M10 Plus (Gen 3) also has four speakers, an audio jack and two 8 MP cameras. It will be released with a separately sold stylus, but Lenovo will not release a keyboard cover for this device. The Tab M10 Plus (Gen 3) costs 249 euros.

Conclusion

As with phones, tablet manufacturers also make compromises in the low price segment. You can see very clearly that Lenovo has different focus points with the Tab P11 Plus than Samsung with the Tab A8 and it is up to you to decide for yourself what is decisive.
