Best Android apps in the Google Play Store week 47

In ‘best apps’ we discuss a selection of fun apps that inspire you every time. This time we discuss four apps that are all related to the theme week Phones and sustainability.

Too Good To Go

A lot of food is still wasted in the Netherlands. For Too Good To Go, originally a Danish startup, this was all the more reason to launch the Too good To Go app on the Dutch market as well. In the app, consumers can purchase excess food at a low price from restaurants and shops. For example, the food is not thrown away at the end of the day, but still ends up on the plate of a paying customer. Thanks to Too Good To Go, more than 10 million meals have been saved from waste in the Netherlands since the beginning of November. This is equivalent to a CO2e saving of approximately 25,000,000 kg.

Ecosia – Trees & Privacy

Ecosia is just like any other browser and search engine, but there is one big difference: They use their profits to plant trees. These trees benefit people, the environment and local economies. For example, Ecosia’s servers run on renewable energy and the trees remove 1 kg of CO2 from the atmosphere with each query.

In addition, your data in this browser is not sold to advertisers, there is no tracking by third parties and all searches are made anonymous within a week. Ecosia is now also a search engine in Google Chrome.

The EcoScan app makes it easy for people to contribute to a better environment. Just take a photo with the app and the app will tell you in which waste bin or waste container it can be thrown. If the object is actually too good to throw away, the app recommends the thrift store. The EcoScan app can also remember which products you scan and then notify you when it becomes known that a product will be collected in another waste bin.
