Berlin car-sharing service Miles takes over WeShare from VW
The Miles car-sharing platform takes over Volkswagen’s mobility service WeShare. The takeover is also expected to increase the fleet by around 10,000 electric vehicles.

Car sharing platform Miles grows to 11,000 vehicles
With the takeover of WeShare, the Miles fleet grows by 2,000 electric vehicles. This will allow users to access a total of 11,000 cars in the future.

Miles available in eight cities
So far, the Berlin car-sharing provider was available without fixed stations in eight major cities, including Hamburg, Munich, Brussels and Ghent. In addition to small cars, users also have the option of renting vans.
According to a statement, customers would benefit from the growing e-fleet in the future.
Original WeShare customers will have access to a significantly larger and more diverse fleet of vehicles, an additional six German cities and two Belgian cities, and new features such as city-to-city trips and trips abroad.
VW has new plans in the car sharing market
With the merger of its platform with Miles, however, VW does not necessarily have the last word on the subject of car sharing.
Last July, for example, the group took over Europcar. According to media reports, the rental company is also to become a car sharing service in the future. In addition to the normal service, taxi offers and Miles vehicles are also to be brokered.
The WeShare offer will continue to run as usual for customers during the merger. According to the Berlin platform, vehicles and users will be migrated to the Miles ecosystem in the coming weeks. The service then continues via your own app.
