Battlefield 2042 will get 3 major game modes at launch

In a recent video, DICE hints at what exactly Battlefield 2042’s three multiplayer game modes will be.

During a live event, developer DICE will release some small breadcrumbs of information about Battlefield 2042. Among other things, the developer confirms three major modes for the upcoming shooter and lights a tip of the shutter about those modes. For example, we know that Battlefield 2042 will receive All-Out Warfare (128 players), Hazard Zone and an unnamed mode at launch.

Battlefield 2042 game modes

All-Out Warfare is the main mode of Battlefield 2042, which will be fully multiplayer oriented. This game mode is of course all about large scale battles like we saw in previous gameplay. Teams of up to 64 players compete against each other on the massive battlefield for central points. In all likelihood, this is the name for the great Conquest mode we know.

In addition, there is Hazard Zone. The developer calls it an intense “squad-based game mode” in the video below (starting at 7:00 AM). DICE always emphasizes that this no battle royale is, which makes it clear that this is indeed a version of the popular game mode.

Finally in the list of Battlefield 2042 game modes, there is an unmentioned mode. DICE will be announcing more about this at the upcoming EA Play Live 2021 event. Until now, Battlefield games always came with a squad-focused mode. Hazard Zone seems to be partly that, but also has battle royale aspects. So possibly the last mode is a competitive squad mode. We’ll know more on July 22!
