Barbarian Builds for Diablo 2 Resurrected
The barbarian has the biggest starting difficulties in Diablo 2: Resurrected. We recommend a build with rune words that you can use to conquer all three levels of difficulty in no time.
Languages:German English
Platforms:Windows PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X
Melee fighters don’t have it easy in Diablo 2 and the barbarian has drawn the weakest lot. However, that does not mean that the class is completely unusable. In the endgame you will need good equipment to get the most out of your character. In the normal level of difficulty, these hurdles are of course much lower.
As a close combat fighter, he is also dependent on a sufficiently high attack value to be able to hit his opponents at all. That’s why we recommend a build around the war screams from Nightmare, which are no longer linked as spells to your attack value.

Beginner build to get started with the game (levels 1 to 30)
The barbarian can equip two melee weapons at the same time. In the normal difficulty level you rely on the skills double swing and frenzy to maximize your damage.
Up to level 30 we recommend the following skill points and attributes:
- 45 strength
- 35 skill
- All other points in vitality
Level | capability |
2 | Slash |
3-4 | Mace Mastery |
5 | – |
6th | Double swing + jump |
7-11 | Double swing |
12-14 | Slash |
15th | Howl |
16 | Scorn |
17th | – |
18th | Battle cry + jump attack |
19th | Mace domination |
20th | Increased stamina |
21 | Scream |
22nd | Double surgeon |
23 | – |
24 | Frenzy + more speed |
25th | Combat orders |
26-28 | Slash |
29 | – |
30th | War cry + battle call |
Although you invest most of your points in slashing, your primary skills are double swing and frenzy. Your double swing damage is increased thanks to the synergy with each point in blow.
Start every fight with a frenzy to increase your attack speed. Then switch to the double swing. We also strongly recommend playing with two maces. You can find the appropriate rune words for this below.
Also activate your battle cries at any timeto buff you and your group members.
Warcry: Endgame Build for the Barbarian (Levels 31 to 99)
As soon as you reach level 31, you can reset your stats and skills and switch to the Warcry build. This will bring you to the end game.

- All other points in vitality
capability | Skill points |
Leap | 1 |
Jump attack | 1 |
Slash | 1 |
Push | 1 |
Paralyze | 1 |
Focus | 1 |
Increased stamina | 1 |
More speed | 1 |

War cry | 2 |
In order to be able to distribute the given points, additional skill points through quests are necessary. You can get this in Act 1 The Den of Evil, Act 2 Radement’s camp and Act 4 The Fallen Angel.
Then bring the following skills to their maximum in this order:
- War cry
- war cry
- Scorn
- Howl
Warcry barbarian play style
Activate combat commands and calls to fight at any time to strengthen you and your group members. Your primary skill is the war cry, which inflicts damage to all enemies in the area and is therefore particularly suitable against groups.
Against bosses and the ancestors you need a mace with the rune word blacknessto have the chance of a crushing blow. This deducts a fixed percentage of their lives from the opponents. Bring the life energy of the bosses to a minimum and then kill them with your war cry.
Helpful rune words for the barbarian
Since you need two melee weapons, the barbarian is more dependent than any other class on good rune words at the beginning of the game.
In the best case scenario, you each carry a weapon stole in one and a gun with Wickedness in the other hand. To do this, however, you need two El runes. You farm these from the countess who is on level 5 of the tower basement. You can find an overview of all rune words in our guide.
The loss of life from Wickedness you can offset it with a mercenary with the prayer ability, which you can hire in act 2. Carrying a weapon in both hands with malice is not recommended, as you cannot easily compensate for the double loss of life.
If you’re not lucky enough to find runes, there is still one Budget option. So you can up to three valley runes in a melee weapon stuck to augment them with poison damage.
From level 25 you carry a crystal sword with the rune word Geist in both hands. The runic words blackness and rhyme, however, you put on your secondary weapon slots, between which you can switch with W or R3.
