A mini solar system is a simple and affordable way to reduce electricity costs. Due to the simplified registration, it is now very easy to implement a balcony power plant. I’ve had my balcony power plant in operation since June 2021 and have saved around 100 euros per year if I use my electricity price of 30 cents per kilowatt hour as the basis for calculation. However, my mini solar system is not perfectly aligned and is somewhat shaded during the day. So you could get more out of it. After about 8 years I got my investment of about 800 euros back. Such a system should run for 25 years if nothing breaks. So it’s worth it either way if you have the opportunity to build such a system. From 2023 the price of electricity will increase and I will save even more money so that the system can be paid for earlier.
What will change in balcony power plants in 2023
The federal government has decided that from 2023 sales tax may no longer be charged for the purchase of photovoltaic systems. This also applies to balcony power plants. So if you buy a mini solar system, you get it tax-free and saves another 19 percent. Accordingly, such a system pays for itself even earlier.
