Sales of Chromebooks have been on the rise since the start of the corona crisis, and with schools offering remote lessons en masse, they can count on a lot of interest from students. ASUS is well aware of this and focuses entirely on that target group in its marketing of the new Chromebook Detachable CZ1.

The new device is very reminiscent of the excellent Lenovo IdeaPad Duet, as it comes with a detachable keyboard, a touchscreen, and the same chipset. ASUS uses the MediaTek Kompanio 500 and pairs it with 4 GB of RAM and 128 GB or 64 GB of storage. The device continues to appear with a stylus.

Another important feature is the durability of the device as it comes with a solid rubber band around the screen. Together with the accompanying case, this element ensures that the Chromebook Detachable CZ1 survives a fall from a height of 1.5 meters. The device enjoys a military degree of protection and received a MIL-STD 810H certificate. The case of ASUS’ Chromebook also serves to prop it up so that the Detachable CZ1 can be used as a laptop.

If you disconnect the new Chromebook from the keyboard, you will notice that it has one USB port, a type-c connection. Unlike Lenovo’s tablet, the Detachable CZ1 does come with a 3.5mm audio jack, which is certainly welcome. It also has stereo speakers on either side of the top. At the front is a 2 MP camera and at the back, ASUS opted for an 8 MP sensor.
