Aspyr -apkrig can work on Knights of the Old Republic

The small Star Wars earthquake that triggered the renewal of the Lucasfilm Games brand and the subsequent confirmation that Electronic Arts will not be the only developer that can expand the Star Wars portfolio has a very interesting development. At the end of last month, speculation came to the surface again on the account of the Knights of the Old Republic series, which, according to information from the BOB podcast, should see a new game. The title is said to be created outside of Electronic Arts, so BioWare does not participate in it, but it is not clear at this time whether it will be a sequel, or rather an implied remake or reimagination. We also don’t know who is working on the game from official sources, but recent events surrounding acquisitions by the Embracer Group may have revealed a secret. Authors new KOTOR may be the developers from the Aspyr studio, who have admitted that they are working on something big and at the same time fit into the hints of journalist Jason Schreier, who claimed that we would probably not guess the name of the studio responsible for the series.

The information that triggered the current speculation can be found directly in the Embracer group’s press release commenting on the entry into Aspyr Media. In the section on future prospects and planned growth, he states that Aspyr relies on a wide portfolio of games and is preparing several other titles from licensed brands. At this point, however, it is important to remember that the studio specializes in ports of famous series for Mac, Linux, iOS or Nintendo Switch and does not develop its own games, which is one of the pieces of the puzzle. The second is the fact that Aspyr has ports on both Knights of the Old Republic for Linux, Mac and iOS, which would qualify them to some extent for entrusting them with the development of this series. The last clue is brought by Embracer himself, who confirms that one of the upcoming titles from Aspyr is really significant and his ambitions are underlined by the high budget.

Aspyr is looking for duel designers, animators, level designers and a lot of graphic designers, who together would not be needed to such an extent if the studio were to continue to operate according to the established formula.

“Aspyr is currently working on several games, including one important project with an estimated budget of $ 70 million. [Titul] becomes important for the whole group [Embracer] and more than 200 internal and external developers will be involved in the development of the project, “says the press release. Visitors to the Reseter’s discussion portal immediately caught it and pointed to other circumstances that are in line with the considerations presented. For example, advertisements for new jobs speak for the idea that Aspyr is not just a port, but a game that goes beyond the remake of another platform. Aspyr is looking for duel designers, animators, level designers and a lot of graphic designers, who together would not be needed to such an extent if the studio were to continue to operate according to the established formula, ie to take over the already finished game and only run it on another operating system.

Discussing the nickname Khrn, he came up with the information that one of Aspyr’s newly hired employees is to be Courtney Woods – the lead screenwriter of games such as Dragon Age Inquisition, Mass Effect Andromeda and also Knights of the Old Republic. He is not the only one who travels to the aforementioned Aspyr from the Austin BioWare studio, which supports the assumptions. Furthermore, the discussion, which currently has three pages, also addresses the possible introduction of a new game, and fans refer to an article in Cinelinx magazine, from which we also drew at the end of January. He explains that the events of Knights of the Old Republic were built outside the canon, and Lucasfilm Games may feel the need to enter the series with prequel or implied reimagination and put everything back on track. Here, however, we continue to run for acceptable speculation and at this moment there is nothing left but to wait for what else appears on the game’s account, or whether Embracer / Lucasfilm Games / Aspyr will confirm it.
