If you had the idea that your Apple Watch Series 7 recently started charging less quickly, you were probably right. Fast charging support seems to have disappeared for several users since the watchOS 8.5 update.

Fast Charging Apple Watch Series 7
It’s one of the focal points of the Apple Watch Series 7: faster charging. If you have the right USB-C adapter, you can bring the battery from zero to eighty percent within 45 minutes. This fast charging is ideal if you use the Apple Watch to monitor your sleep.
However, since watchOS 8.5, fast charging doesn’t seem to work anymore. Several Apple Watch Series 7 users are reporting an issue on the Apple Support and Reddit forums where the Apple Watch charges slower since the update.
‘Half as fast since watchOS 8.5’
“I’ve noticed that since I updated my Series 7 to 8.5, fast charging doesn’t work anymore,” reports one. “My Apple Watch seems to charge about half as fast as it did before the update,” wrote the other. One user even states that the Apple Watch charged only five percent per hour.
Another says that the fast charging only works after a few tries. ‘The first attempt always fails (2% in 15 minutes), but after disconnecting and reconnecting the charger, the fast charging will start. Unfortunately you can’t immediately see if it works and you have to wait a few minutes.’
Not all Apple Watch Series 7 users suffer from charging issues, however. The smartwatch also charges just as quickly with our Apple Watch Series 7 with a magnetic fast charger and 20W adapter. news site 9to5Mac was able to confirm the slower charging.
software update
Apple has not yet responded to the issue. It’s quite possible that the tech giant is working behind the scenes on a fix, which will be fixed with a future software update. Have you noticed that your Series 7 charges less quickly? Let us know below in the comments.
