Now in the Netherlands: Report traffic with Apple Maps

The feature allows you to report various incidents on the road. Apps such as Waze and Flitsmeister already had this function, but now Apple Maps is also equipped with this function.

To make a notification while navigating, say “Hey Siri” first. Then you have the choice to create different notifications. Two examples are ‘There is a speed trap’ or ‘There is an accident’.

The notifications that are made are reviewed by Apple. The incidents are then only shown on the map if there is a high degree of confidence that the report is genuine.

Hands-free with Siri

By reporting hazards on the road with Siri, you can report the alerts hands-free to Apple Maps. This way you stay focused on the road and you don’t run the risk of your eyes wandering off the road when you want to report an accident. It is of course also possible to delete the notifications again when the danger is over.

By the way, it is important that you have the ‘Hey Siri’ feature turned on. This option can be found on your iPhone under ‘Settings > Siri & Search > Listen for ‘Hey Siri’.
