Apple MagSafe Battery Pack too expensive? These are 4 cheaper alternatives

Power your iPhone 12 without having to put it down: you need a power bank with MagSafe for that. Fortunately, if you find Apple’s own power bank too expensive, there are more than enough good alternatives.

Read on after the ad.

4 power banks with MagSafe

Apple recently released the MagSafe Battery Pack. This power bank automatically clicks onto the back of your iPhone 12 and provides the device with power. So your smartphone charges without having to put it on the charger.

This is of course very cool, but Apple’s magnetic power bank also has drawbacks. For example, it has a fairly low capacity of 1460 mAh and it takes a very long time for your iPhone battery to be full because charging is done with 5 Watts. Above all, it is very expensive: 109 euros.

Fortunately, there are good alternatives to the Apple MagSafe Battery Pack on the market. Here are 4 solid options.

1. Belkin Magnetic Wireless Power Bank

This magnetic power bank from Belkin has a capacity of no less than 10,000 mAh and charges via MagSafe with 7.5 Watts of power. The battery of your iPhone 12 (mini) or iPhone 12 Pro (Max) is therefore charged slightly faster than with Apple’s own portable battery.

The Belkin power bank also has drawbacks. It is relatively hefty and therefore looks comical on an iPhone 12 mini. On the other hand, it is a lot cheaper than Apple’s alternative.

2. Xtorm MagSafe Wireless

Are you looking for a more compact MagSafe power bank? Then take a look at this copy of Xtorm. This magnetic battery has a much more subtle design and works on all iPhone 12 phones. In addition, it is less bulky, making it easier to use your phone while charging.

It has a capacity of 5000 mAh and charges with 5 Watt, just as fast as Apple’s MagSafe Battery Pack. On the other hand, it is a lot cheaper than the official variant: 39.95 euros. You can fully power your iPhone about one to one and a half times with this Xtorm battery.

3. GoodExperience power bank

Is industrial design all yours? Then take a look at this MagSafe Powerbank from the relatively unknown brand GoodExperience.

The biggest advantage of the magnetic charger is the power of 15 Watt. As a result, it charges your iPhone 12 no less than three times as fast as the official Battery Pack from Apple.

In total, the power bank has 5000 mAh capacity. He can charge an iPhone 12 mini with this for about one and a half, but the larger battery of the iPhone 12 Pro Max does not go further than once.

4. Zens Dual MagSafe Power Bank

Wireless devices are convenient to use, but you have to supply them with power all the time, because without electricity you are nowhere. That’s where this MagSafe power bank from Zens comes in. This not only provides your phone with power, but can also charge your AirPods at the same time.

Of course it is then no longer possible to use your iPhone in hand. Nice: there is a holder on the back of the Zens power bank so that you can put the phone upright while charging. That way you can, for example, watch a movie on the train without having to hold the iPhone 12 all the time.

What about the iPhone 13?

The iPhone 12 is currently the only Apple phone with MagSafe. The iPhone 13 series will be added this fall. It seems that this year’s iPhones can also handle MagSafe.

In other words: if you buy a power bank with MagSafe now, you can (most likely) use it for years to come. In the video below we look ahead to the iPhone 13.
