Anthony Mackie -apkrig got the lead role in Twisted Metal

The Twisted Metal brand has appeared in the news remarkably often lately, considering that we had the last games with the subtitle Black in 2015. Deadline magazine has now come up with the news that the main role in the upcoming series will be edited by the American actor Anthony Mackie. You may know him as Falcona from the Marvels or the films The Trustees of Destiny or Death Awaits Everywhere.

The series is supposed to be about an outsider who gets a chance at a better life if he delivers a mysterious shipment through a post-apocalyptic wasteland.

PlayStation Productions boss Asad Qizilbash is excited about his commitment. According to him, Mackie has the ability to combine humor, action and drama, which is said to be great for Twisted Metal. Executive producers are screenwriters Deapoola Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The series is supposed to be about an outsider who gets a chance at a better life if he delivers a mysterious shipment through a post-apocalyptic wasteland. The protagonist doesn’t remember who he is – hence the name John Doe – but he definitely can do it with the steering wheel.

The series was announced in May 2019. It is an action comedy in which many iconic characters appear. There will also be the famous crazy clown Needles Kane, who drives the ice cream truck Sweet Tooth. Michael Jonathan Smith, who collaborated on the series Cobra Kai, will also take part in the screenplay. It has been speculated that actor Will Arnett, who dubbed Batman in Lego films, for example, could lend his voice to the clown.

Lots of other shows in preparation

The author of the original play, David Jaffe, was also in contact with the authors of the series, as he recently revealed. At the same time, however, there are repeated reports that a new title is also under development, which should accompany the planned adaptation. However, according to David Jaffe, he has not heard anything about it and does not believe it. All that remains is to be surprised.

In addition, PlayStation’s TV and film division is preparing an adaptation of Uncharted or The Last of Us. There will also be a Ghost of Tsushima. As for other projects, an animated series based on the Sly Cooper series was announced in 2017, but its current status is unclear. The Last Guardian from 2016 by Fumita Ueda is also reportedly heading from the digital world to the silver screen. At least that’s what insider Daniel Richtman claimed, according to whom the studio was looking for suitable actors.

Twisted Metal in a nutshell

The first part, created by David Jaffe, premiered in 1995. The last one was released on PS3 in 2012. According to older data, the series has sold at least 5 million copies and has seen several spin-offs. Fans could also read the Twisted Metal comics, and even before the series, there was open talk of a film adaptation. However, these plans eventually came to an end.
