Another Call of Duty may be the sequel to Modern Warfare -apkrig

While we are just looking forward to this year’s Call of Duty: Vanguard, there is a slow speculation about the Call of Duty for 2022. Insider Tom Henderson suggestedthat the code name for the new project may be Project Cortez and that it should be a sequel to Modern Warfare from 2019. Moreover, he is not alone in claiming it. Video Games Chronicle magazine also heard information from its own sources.

Project Cortez also appeared in a leaked list of games for the GeForce Now cloud streaming service, and the developers are to be Infinity Ward. According to people familiar with Activision’s plans, the title is to offer a campaign with US special forces fighting Colombian drug cartels.

Infinity Ward’s turn

The VGC points out that this is reminiscent of the plot of the 1994 film Danger in Danger (based on a book by Tom Clancy), in which Harrison Ford fights Colombian drug cartels and the character of Colonel Felix Cortez appears. This is where the code name Project Cortez comes from.

The development of Black Ops Cold War was led by the Treyarch studio and was mainly helped by Raven. Call of Duty: The Vanguard are again primarily in charge of the Sledgehammer Games, so it would make sense for the Infinity Ward team to take over again after this “break”. Although, of course, according to Activision, basically all studios help with individual games.

Given that the speculated game would be a continuation of the reboot, the question is whether it would still somehow stick to the original Modern Warfare 2 from 2009, or move away from it completely and tell its own unique story.
