Android Auto will recommend music, news and podcasts via new button

Android Auto is all about giving the driver information without compromising road safety. A new feature that is now popping up among some Android Auto users should contribute to that, even though the title might suggest otherwise.

Android Auto Recommendations

It seems that Google has found that people spend too much time searching for music and podcasts in the car. The photo below has been shared on Reddit of a new button in the interface next to the playback buttons of the car operating system. This button automatically gives the driver suggestions for music and podcasts on Spotify, for example.

The button also provides suggestions for news bulletins and all recommendations are displayed side by side in a horizontal pop-up in large boxes. Pressing in the wrong place becomes very difficult and that allows you to keep your eyes on the road more, although you still have to look at the screen. The screen disappears again as soon as you have made a choice.

New button in Android Auto interface with suggestions

In the recommendations you will only find content from apps that you have installed for Android Auto. In addition, the Google Assistant has also been given a place. The suggestions are based on your listening behavior and artificial intelligence probably comes into play here too.

The button can prevent drivers from looking for fun music or podcasts themselves, and immediately gives suggestions that can be played at the touch of a button. Still, as a driver, you have to take your eyes off the road to press the button and select a recommendation. What do you think? Should Google implement this button or rather not?
