Android 13 with One UI 5.0 beta program coming in July

Samsung’s preparations for Android 13 for the Galaxy S22 series are in full swing. The manufacturer would like to open the new One UI 5.0 beta program next month. That is clearly earlier than expected.

One UI 5.0 beta in July?

Samsung may have the best update policy you could wish for for your smartphone. Smartphones in all price ranges will be provided with updates for a long time to come. It is not surprising that the company is already working on One UI 5.0, its own skin that is inspired by Android 13. However, the pace at which the new version should appear for the Samsung Galaxy S22 series, in this case, seems to be increasing. Where Samsung usually opens the beta program around the fall, this has now been brought forward, Sammobile colleagues report.

According to the information, Samsung would already open the One UI 5.0 beta in the third week of July. This happened last year with One UI 4.0 still in September. The public release of One UI 5.0 with the update to Android 13, is planned for the Galaxy S22 series in October. Looking at previous updates, Samsung would make the update available first to its home country of South Korea and the US, then to other regions. It is unknown if that will be the case again this year. Samsung will be the first to update the Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra. After the release of the beta version of Android 13 for the S-series, the beta program will start for other S-series models, the Flip and the Fold.

Earlier rumors talked about several improvements in One UI 5.0. The animations and speed, among other things, need to be considerably optimized. We also expect new features from Android 13 and certain changes to the interface. New functions include, for example, the (language) settings per app, a new photo selector and various optimisations. It is not known whether the beta will also be available in the Netherlands and Belgium. Unfortunately that didn’t happen before.
