Google has unexpectedly released a new beta version of Android 12. Originally, Beta 4 would be the last beta version, but now there is a new version; Android 12 Beta 4.1.

Android 12 Beta 4.1

In the run-up to the final version of Android 12, several test versions have been released by Google. For example, Android 12 Beta 4 recently appeared. To start with, these were Developer Preview versions, intended for developers to make their apps suitable for Android 12. After that, various beta versions appeared for the public who wanted to get started with Android 12 early. Four versions of this were planned, but now a new version has unexpectedly been released.

In Android 12 Beta 4.1, some fixes are implemented that should improve user-friendliness. Major changes or new features will not be implemented with this update.

But what exactly has Google tackled with the 4.1 beta of Android 12?

  • Addressed an issue where some devices would enter a bootloop after a reboot.
  • Fixed an issue with heads-up notifications sometimes not showing. In that case, notifications were only visible when the notification bar was swiped down.
  • Fixed an issue with the volume slider while casting.
  • There were issues with facial unlocking on some devices, which has been resolved.
  • Fixed an issue with “Nearby Devices”. Some users were unable to grant permission to the phone app. When users, calling via Bluetooth, experience problems with calling, there is a solution for this. To do this, press and hold the Phone app icon, tap ‘i’ and choose permissions; turn on nearby devices.
  • Fix for devices experiencing issues connecting to the internet through a VPN.

The final version of Android 12 is expected this fall; possibly next month.
