Americans trust Google and Amazon more than Apple with their data
Who should you trust for data management: Apple? Amazon? Google? Facebook ? Washington Post poll show that Apple is not the first company on this point, while it says it relies on user privacy.
Apple is not first for privacy
18% of Americans polled said they trust Apple “a lot”, while Google and Amazon got 14%. But in the “a fair amount of trust” category, Amazon took the lead with 39%, Google with 34% and Apple lagging behind with 26%. If we combine the two positive categories, Apple’s overall score is 44%, behind Google’s 48% and Amazon’s 53%.
Conversely, the companies that Americans trust the least, Facebook comes first. The social network obtains a rate of 72% for the category “not really trust / not at all trust”. Suffice to say that Facebook is having a very bad year when we know that the group was recently voted worst company of 2021. Then we find TikTok with 63% of people who do not trust and Instagram with 60%. In the case of Apple, the share is still 40%.
The survey also covered online advertising. For 82%, targeted ads are annoying. 74% find them invasive and 27% find them useful. At Apple, an option has existed since iOS 14.5 that allows you to refuse tracking by applications. This does not mean that there are no more ads, but apps can no longer use your data for targeted advertising.
