Amazon warns customers about their own products
In the future, Amazon will warn its customers about its own products with the “frequently returned” label. This should enable them to better assess whether they could be satisfied with the order. The online retailer also wants to reduce returns in this way.
What probably makes online shopping particularly attractive is the possibility of returning products that you don’t like easily and usually free of charge. In Germany alone, this has led to about 315 million returned packages per year. Mainly because fake reviews push low-quality products.
Amazon now wants to counteract this with a change in its online shop. The shipping giant recently began warning customers about products that are returned particularly frequently.

Frequently returned products: Amazon warns customers before making a purchase
Like the US online magazine the information reported, Amazon initially began labeling products with a corresponding notice in the United States. However, the “frequently returned” label is not only intended to protect customers from buying a product that they might not like later.
Providers should also be prevented from providing misleading product information. At the same time, Amazon wants to make buyers more aware of product reviews. The company wants to reduce the rate of returned products step by step.
High star rating despite bad customer reviews
To illustrate the problem, The Information reports a random sample in which a record player and two dresses were examined. All three items had relatively high star ratings.
However, a look at the customer reviews shows that buyers had problems with defective products and wrong clothing sizes.
So far, only individual products have been marked with a “frequently returned” label
Initially, the new notice should only be given for products for which Amazon takes care of the shipping and logistics itself. It is not yet known when the marking will also be introduced generally. It is also not yet clear whether the notice will be given outside of the USA.
In the past, Amazon has repeatedly struggled with counterfeit products and manipulated customer reviews. While the mail order company tried to defend itself against deep fakes, the company was repeatedly criticized for its practices – among other things, because it continued to destroy new goods and returns despite corresponding changes in the law.
