Amazon is changing the return period in Germany
Amazon is apparently currently testing significantly extended return guarantees. Customers have up to 180 days to return items purchased from Amazon. Previously, the deadline was 30 days. However, the group has not yet officially announced the new return conditions for its German customers.
Amazon: Return items up to 180 days after purchase
Some German customers see extended return guarantees in their Amazon account. You have now up to 180 days timeto return the purchased goods to Amazon and receive a full refund of the purchase price. Previously, Amazon’s return policy stipulated that the products had to be returned to the group no later than 30 days after receipt (source: mydealz).
It is currently still unclear whether this is just a first test or whether a nationwide introduction can be expected. On the corresponding help page at Amazon is still Talk about a 30-day return guarantee. So if it is in preparation for a major change, the text has not yet been adjusted. It is also clear that Amazon carries out smaller tests from time to time, which then do not lead to a major change for all customers. For example, a new minimum order value of 39 instead of 29 euros was not introduced.
Users report that the significantly extended return guarantee apparently also subsequently changed for products already ordered became. These no longer have to be returned within one month, but after six months at the latest. The prerequisite is that the goods were ordered and shipped directly from Amazon. The new return policies do not apply to third-party items. Warehouse deals are also excluded.
How returns work on Amazon:
Amazon return guarantee for unused products
Even if the return period should change, Amazon points out that the products must be in their original condition. The goods must therefore be unused and complete, as can be read in the return policy. In fact, Amazon has been quite accommodating here in the past and even refunded money if the items were no longer in their original condition.
