Over the last few years, the bag has literally torn with various streaming platforms. So deliberately, which of you pays for at least one of the services like Netflix, HBO GO, Amazon Prime Video or Disney Plus? There is nothing wrong with that, especially nowadays, when we are mostly at home and have nothing else to do. But if you want to have a large selection, you must logically, too enough to pay. In today’s article, we will look at a lot an interesting alternative to Stream Cinema, thanks to which you will save a lot of money and you will have access to a huge library of movies, series and even concerts.

Lovers of streaming content will save money

Let’s start by calculating it nicely. The basic Basic tariff on Netflix costs CZK 199 per month, but you will only be able to play the content on one device and especially only in SD quality, which is not a very lively thing these days, when 4K television costs a few thousand TVs. A tariff that is already worth something and supports at least Full HD costs CZK 259, and if you are interested in 4K quality and more equipment, you must pay CZK 319 per month. However, if you are also interested in HBO GO, for example, you will pay another CZK 159 for it, not counting other services such as Amazon Prime Video or Disney Plus.

So if you are a fan of movies and series, you pay for Spotify, O2 TV and GeForce Now, for example, you can easily get to the amount of CZK 2,000 per month. And it’s definitely not a small amount of money. As we said at the beginning, the Kodi Stream Cinema add-on allows you to watch most of the content that is on these platforms in just a few CZK 59 per month. If you subscribe to the service for a year, it will cost you CZK 39 per month (CZK 599).

How to install Stream Cinema on Android TV?

So if you are interested in the previous paragraphs, you can at least try the Kodi plugin Stream Cinema service. The investment is CZK 59 and believe us, you will most likely stay with it anyway. Installation is relatively easy and it will take you a few minutes.

1. Create an account on WebShare. It is possible to pay by card, bank transfer or SMS payment and as an added bonus you also get a private storage.
2. Download the Kodi app from Google Play on your Android TV (or other device)
3. In Kodi, go to Settings> File Manager> Add source
4. Enter the address https://repo.sc2.zone/ in the source and name the folder Stream Stream, for example
5. Then go to Settings> Add-ons> Install from zip file> (allow installation from unknown sources here) repo> repository.hacky.zip
6. Po nainstalování zvolte Settings > Add-ons > Install from repository > Hacky’s repository > Video Add-ons > Stream Cinema Community > Install
7. So you’re done. You can now start Stream Cinema in the Add-ons tab.

After installing Stream Cinema, you should see several windows where you log in under your WebShare account. If so will not happen, on the Add-ons tab, right-click Stream Cinema and select Settings. A window will appear where you select Source and enter the login details for your WebShare account. Then tap OK and you’re done.

Which Android TV device to choose?

Personally, we run Stream Cinema on Nvidia Shield TV from 2017 and it goes without any problems. We’ve also tested it on the newer Nvidia Shield TV from 2019 and Google Chromecast with Google TV, but in theory the service should work on most Android TV boxes or televisions. An interesting option can be Xiaomi Mi TV Stick or Xiaomi Mi TV Box S. The best Android TV device is generally Nvidia Shield TV, but it will also be reflected in the price. However, it receives regular updates, is very fast and as a bonus you can play games on it via the Nvidia GeForce Now service, which we also tried for you.

Stream Cinema can be watched on a computer, phone…

If you don’t have an Android TV and use it as a multimedia center, maybe one older computer, Kodi and Stream Cinema can also be run on it. Windows, macOS, Linux and Raspberry Pi are supported.

The installation is basically the same as on Android TV. You can download the Kodi application from the official website. When Android phone You can easily download Kodi from Google Play.

There is a lot of film and series here

Deliberately try to find your favorite show or movie on Stream Cinema. 95% of it can be found there, unless it is clearly an excavation. In addition, there are also new movies like for example, Tenet, for which you pay almost CZK 500 for Apple TV, for example, the loan will then cost CZK 79. Of course, there are whole series of various series from the Vikings to the Living Dead to the iconic Stargate. However, Kodi also offers the Stream Cinema add-on czech series, so in combination with the Android TV box it can be an ideal birthday gift for your grandmother, for example.

What about the quality and complexity of the connection?

Most movies and series are available on Stream Cinema in 4K or at least Full HD resolution, and the big advantage is that you can preselect both picture and sound quality. For each video, you have a choice of several files. They have pre-written resolution, sound quality, subtitles, localization and size. For example, you can play such a Tenet in Full HD resolution with AAC 2.0 sound. The size of this file is 2.04 GB and even relatively slow internet is enough to play it. However, if you are a connoisseur and in addition to 4K television, you also have a proper speaker system, here it is 66.24GB file in 4K and DTS 5.1 or AC3 5.1 sound.

However, you will need fast enough internet to play it, or you will have to wait for it to load sufficiently. In our case, files up to a size of approx. 10 GB, while the download speed is around 50 – 60 Mbps. However, we recommend a better connection for the best possible quality. After all, you can see how much the file will download in Mbit/s, so you can easily calculate which files will run smoothly without having to create a buffer. What about subtitles?

Along with Stream Cinema, we also use the titulky.com plugin server, which it is the largest server with subtitles on the CZ / SK scene. As a rule, the subtitles are of very high quality and are also used for hot news, whether it is movies or series. How many times do they happen that are many better quality than the original on Netflix, HBO GO or other platforms.

For most movies at Stream Cinema, subtitles are also present directly on the movie / series. However, if you suffer from a really good translation, you will not make a mistake with titulky.com. The service is worth it CZK 23 per month, so the headlines will cost you less than a hundred a year. Sometimes the subtitles may not be synchronized. What does it mean? That the image does not fit your subtitles and then they do not have to correspond to what is currently happening in the film. They are simply late. However, this can be solved by moving the captions forward or backward.

Appearance selection in Kodi

The Kodi media player can be a bit complicated for beginners, or you simply may not like the interface. Fortunately, this is not a problem either. You can choose the look that suits you. We personally use the default one, because we are used to it, but there are dozens of different and well-made interfaces. One will make Kodi a very minimalist affair, the other will bring the look of Apple TV closer. The change in appearance will then be reflected in the Stream Cinema accessory. In short, everyone can choose here. So how do you change the look?

1. Go to Settings> Interface> Appearance and click Appearance here
2. In the table, click Get More…
3. Then choose the interface that suits you and install it

How to set Czech in Kodi?

The first time you install Kodi on any device, you’ll have it in English. It is not a fundamental problem, but Czech is certainly more suitable for most of us and we then orient ourselves better in the entire program. So just go to Interface > Regional > Language > Czech and wait a while for Czech to install.

Kore remote control

If you’re running Kodi on something other than Android TV, it might come in handy remote control. There is nothing more annoying than having to get out of bed every time you want to change the volume or title you want to play. Just download the app from Google Play Kore, Official Remote for Kodi and you are taken care of. You can control Kodi and Stream Cinema from any Android device, for example on Windows or Linux. Apple iOS also got its version.

Where else can Stream Cinema be used?

Stream Cinema has a large number of not only films and series, but also concerts and documentaries. If you are tired of podcasts or Spotify, you can play various live concerts on the road in the car (which, by the way, are in very good quality) or interesting documentaries, where you often often only need a soundtrack to understand the topic.

Connection of ČSFD and Stream Cinema

Stream Cinema is undoubtedly a great, intuitive and inexpensive alternative. But what we definitely lack is the evaluation of individual actions. It’s nice that a film is in trends or the most watched, but it does not automatically mean that it is high quality. For example, such a film Behind the Line is one of the most watched, but in reality it is a B-side issue, which we would not have noticed without a connection to the CSFD or another database. We definitely recommend the connection if you do not want to googlit each movie separately. In addition, you also have a description of the film, so you know right away what it’s about.
