A source claims that all iPhone 13 models will get an improved ultra-wide angle lens. In a previous rumor, this seemed to be exclusively reserved for the Pro devices.

All iPhone 13 models get improved ultra-wide-angle lens
Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo already claimed in November 2020 that the ultra-wide-angle lens will be equipped with a larger aperture. Kuo underlines that the upgrade only applies to iPhone 13 Pro models. The analysts of Barclays now partly contradict the reliable Apple insider.
They expect that all iPhone 13 models will be equipped with a better ultra-wide-angle lens with a larger aperture. To clarify, a wider aperture allows more light to pass through the lens, resulting in significantly better low-light photos.
In the same report, Barclays analysts also predict that the standard iPhone 13 Pro will get the upgraded telephoto lens of the iPhone 12 Pro Max. This lens is ideal for zooming in without loss of quality.
More focus on camera
So far, the focus for improvements of the new 2021 models seems to be mainly on the camera. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, the ultra-wide-angle lens of the iPhone 13 series also gets autofocus with more stable images as a result. This is still missing in all four iPhone 12 models.
The camera rumors don’t stop here. DigiTimes, for example, claims that Apple wants to equip all “2021 iPhones” with a LiDAR scanner, including the so-called ordinary versions.
Now the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 12 Pro Max already have such a depth sensor on board. LiDAR is a technique for measuring distances. In practice, you use it, for example, to measure someone’s height, or for augmented reality apps.
iPhone 13 will be back in September
All in all, the rumor mill surrounding the iPhone 13 is taking shape. It also seems that the device will appear in September 2021, unlike its predecessor. The iPhone 12 series appeared in two rounds. In October, the iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro were released: the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max appeared a month later.
