Portal PhoneArena recalls that the most revolutionary innovation of the Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch Active4 smart watches should be a change in the operating system. In recent years, Samsung has used its own Tizen OS system. He also uses it, for example, in his smart TVs. Despite being a stable and optimized system, it still has little support for third-party applications.

For this reason, it should be replaced in the new generation of watches by a system on which Samsung is cooperating with Google. Both companies officially announced this a few weeks ago, but did not specify this system. Most likely, it will be WearOS, which will be adapted to the Galaxy Watch directly by Google itself. Samsung has used Google’s watch system in the past. It was the predecessor of the current system, which was originally called Android Wear.

According to the GSMAren portal, Samsung has decided for Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch Active4 to reach for the Wear OS operating system from Google, which will replace the Tizen OS used so far.

The first information about this change was made public at the beginning of the year, and it looks like it was correct. The main reason behind this decision is the fact that Tizen OS is lagging behind in supporting third-party applications.

In connection with the new smart watch, we will also learn details about their design. The Samsung Galaxy Watch4 will be available with 42 mm and 46 mm bodies. There will also be a choice of two sizes for the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active4, where customers will be able to choose between 40 mm and 42 mm.

Disappointment for diabetics

Finally, there is an unpleasant message. According to the latest reports, none of the presented watches will be equipped with technology for non-invasive measurement of blood sugar levels, which until recently was speculated on live. Samsung even had to actively test this technology.
