AirPods Pro 1 vs AirPods Pro 2
About three years after the first AirPods Pro, the successor came: the AirPods Pro 2. The new AirPods Pro 2 may look a lot like its predecessor from the outside, but nothing could be further from the truth.
These earphones (again with noise reduction) have some nice new features! We list the most important differences for you in this AirPods Pro 1 vs AirPods Pro 2 article.
These are the (main) differences
There is a whole range of new features in the AirPods Pro 2. The biggest change is the better noise reduction. This noise canceling ensures that you can enjoy your music undisturbed in a busy train, a (too) full office or on the plane.
Better noise reduction
According to Apple, the noise reduction in the AirPods Pro 2 has become a lot better and can filter out up to twice as much noise. ‘Twice more’ may be a bit ambitious, but the noise canceling is indeed better. You can still hear voices and background sounds very softly when you have the noise reduction on, but it is no longer disturbing.
Adaptive transparency mode
What Apple has also tinkered with is the transparency mode. This means you can still hear the ambient sounds when you have the earbuds on. The microphone then picks up the ambient sound and lets it be heard through the speakers.
However, Apple has added a new feature to the AirPods Pro 2 called “Adaptive Transparency.” This dampens loud noises in your environment. For example, you can still hear a loud motor racing past, but much less loudly.
Charging case improvements
The storage box now has a speaker. When the box of the AirPods Pro 2 makes the first sound, it takes some getting used to. Every time you start charging the box, it will now let you know with a sound. Do you think that is annoying? Then the option can also be turned off in the settings.
Touch control with volume control
Finally, the AirPods Pro 2 have gained touch control. This allows you, among other things, to adjust the volume by swiping over the stem. You can also easily turn the noise reduction on or off by holding the stem for a while or skip to the next song with a quick squeeze.
