AirPods Max: iOS 14.4 suggests interchangeable hoops

The iOS 14.4 code includes a piece that could signify the arrival of interchangeable hoops for the AirPods Max. This joins a discovery made during the dismantling of the helmet.

It turns out that it is possible to easily remove the headband of the AirPods Max. The accessory to access the SIM card drawer of the iPhone is enough to do this. Suffice to say that this suggests that users could remove the hoop to replace it with another model. This theory is reinforced with iOS 14.4.

The code for iOS 14.4 beta 2 indicated that iPhone and iPad can detect the type of headband being used. An interesting choice when you know that Apple does not (yet) sell a hoop individually. The user only has the right to the model present by default with his helmet.

Naturally, this line of code could also mean that iOS wants to display the correct hoop when pairing. But it is quite possible that it is also related to the change of roll bar. After all, Apple does sell ear cushions for its AirPods Max. The pair is available at a price of 79 euros.

We will certainly have to wait for the final version of iOS 14.4 to learn more about the potential interchangeable arches of the AirPods Max. Apple is not communicating anything specific on this subject for the moment.
