Age of Darkness: Final Stand

Do you still remember They Are Billions, an interestingly styled and very successful real-time strategy with a remarkable number of enemies? Thus, at first glance, solid competition begins to emerge. The Australian studio PlaySide has introduced the strategy Age of Darkness: Final Stand, which has one interesting ace up its sleeve.

Even though we’ve seen games with really large numbers of enemies, it’s always breathtaking. In Age of Darkness, up to 70,000 evil creatures who can only destroy can roll over you and your gradually built and constantly repaired town at one time.

In order to survive the night influx of beasts, you set out during the day with your group of heroes to explore the surroundings, where there will also be no shortage of battles, but at the same time you will find the raw materials needed to expand your homestead and build its fortifications.

Your perfect plan will inevitably have one weakness. Once night falls, you will have to choose one of the penalties. But if you survive with him until dawn, you will be rewarded with a blessing until the next day. And one more thing will make your life very uncomfortable, the one that is the announced ace up your sleeve – fog of war.

Yes, this is one of the most classic elements of real-time strategies, covering the map with a black coating that prevents you from immediately seeing where it is. But this fog is dynamic in Age of Darkness, and it is she who is to blame for the huge hordes of murderous monsters roaming the world.

If your soldiers or heroes find themselves in her grip, their fighting ability will decrease. At the same time, new currents of enemies are constantly pouring out of it, and if it happens that this mist called the Veil engulfs one of your buildings, it will transform it into a new birthplace of enemies.

The veil will cause you problems even during a sunny day and exploring the surroundings with the heroes. Luckily, the heroes are constantly improving, unlocking special abilities, which makes them key figures in defense against night raids.

I don’t know about you, but it sounds like Age of Darkness: Final Stand really has a lot to offer. Respectively, he will only have, from November this year, in a preliminary approach to Steam.
