Activison intervened against cheating on the -apkrig consoles

Last week, with a link to the activities of the Anti-Cheat Police Department, we informed you about a new form of cheat for first person shooters, which can be used not only on a PC but also on consoles. The ACPD argued that this solution, which relies on machine learning and evaluates real-time images from “any” game on a separate computer, is difficult to trace and could pose a significant threat to developers and gamers who expect fair conditions in multiplayer matches. . Call of Duty: Warzone was chosen as an example to use this cheat, so Activision became interested in videos and information, and it has now forced the author and provider of the software described to close down.

The whole case was discussed in detail by the editors of ArsTechnica magazine, who explained in more detail how the cheat works. As originally assumed, necessary for the operation of the entire solution on the consoles is a hardware signal converter from the driver, which thus communicates at the same time with the console itself, but also with the computer running the cheat software. This allows the cheat to enter the control and aim in a flash, or shoot straight at the selected location, typically the head of the opponent. Such converters can be, for example, Titan Two or the more well-known Cronus Zen, and in addition to the gamepad, of course, you can also connect a mouse to them, if you decide to spoil the game with others on your computer.

The author of the cheat informs about the threat from Activision in the message, which is currently the only content of the canceled website.

However, you still need the software plus the know-how behind it, and that’s exactly what Activision has pushed. Efforts to stop the spread of the cheat were directed by the publisher Call of Duty to the main website of User Vision Pro and the operator, acting under the nickname User101. He then informs about the threat from Activision in a message, which is currently the only content of the mentioned sites, and there is currently no indication that he should in his business continue.

“At Activision’s request, I will no longer develop or use software that could be used to exploit its games,” says User101. He then adds the obligatory claim that the intent of his activity of course was not committing anything illegal and claiming that the software was never actually sold to anyone. It refers to the end of one of the videos in which it was said that the cheat would arrive soon, however, this information cannot be confirmed due to ambiguities. “This technology has other real benefits for assisted gaming, such as webcam motion control when a player is handicapped. Unfortunately, due to the negative impact, I can’t develop the software further, “adds User101 in an angelic way.

The fact is, however, that the software has been talked about as a cheat from the very beginning, and we believe that if it was presented in good faith from the beginning, without any ambiguity or doubt, it would not have had to be acted upon in such a drastic way.
