Terminator 2 – Judgment Day is considered by movie fans to be an action masterpiece and one of the best sequels of all time. In an interview, leading actor Arnold Schwarzenegger revealed that he had a completely different vision for the sequel.

Terminator 2: Schwarzenegger wanted 150 kills

Arnold Schwarzenegger probably needs no introduction. Certainly not a film fan. The actor has his reputation with numerous films cemented as a legendary action star. Including Conan, Predator and especially Terminator.

His biggest competitor in the 80’s and 90’s was Sylvester Stallone. At that time, a real competition developed between the two actors as to who would produce the bigger action blockbusters. It even went so far that Schwarzenegger cared about who got more kills in a movie. The actor talks about this in this interview with Jimmy Kimmel, for example:

As a result, Schwarzenegger also had very different expectations for the second Terminator film. He wanted to make the film a lot more brutal than director James Cameron in order to surpass Stallone. The action star was all the more surprised when Cameron told him that that he would play a good Terminator in the sequel.

“What do you mean by a good terminator? In the first film I killed 68 people. In the second part I have to kill 150. We have to step up! I cut their throats, shoot them with a cannon and run them over with a car. I have to trump Stallone!” (Source: gamerant)

Ultimately, however, Cameron pushed through his peaceful vision. In fact, the exact opposite happened. In Terminator 2: Judgment Day, Schwarzenegger didn’t kill a single human on screen. That didn’t hurt the film’s success. The sequel grossed nearly $521 million in 1991.
