Accuweather Node goes live on Chainlink
Chainlink plays an important role in the smart contract platform ecosystem. The Chainlink protocol enables smart contracts to receive real data. A partner of Chainlink, Accuweather, announced today that their own node has now gone live on Chainlink.
Both parties had already announced the partnership in August 2021. Accuweather will now be able to provide weather data for blockchain applications. According to Accuweather, you can Developers can create new products such as weather forecasts, hedging markets, and dynamic NFT graphics and games based on current weather conditions.
“From our perspective, it’s about making our data more accessible,” said Matthew Vitebsky, director of flagship products at Accuweather Decrypt. “That’s why we wanted to ensure that applications that can speed up warning services or the like can use our data and are accessible to them.”
Information on temperature, precipitation, wind speed and natural disasters will be available through the Accuweather API. Developers can then create smart contracts that query Accuweather’s Chainlink node for weather data.
Accuweather charges a fixed fee to access its weather data APIs, which is paid in LINK, Chainlink’s native token. The data is provided via the Ethereum blockchain or the second-layer solution Polygon.
