ABN Amro app lets you withdraw money with a QR code, without a card

ABN Amro customers can get money out of the wall in a new way. A bank card is not necessary; just scanning a QR code is enough to withdraw money.

Withdraw money via QR code

ABN Amro introduces a new way of withdrawing money. The bank has announced the possibility of withdrawing money without a debit card. Instead of having to insert a card into the machine, a QR code can be scanned at the ATM. This option works at Geldmaat ATMs.

From now on, an option will be rolled out for the ABN Amro app that allows you to scan the QR code at an ATM. So you use the ABN Amro app for this and not the QR code scanner in the camera app, for example. Logging in can be done in the usual way, such as with the identification code, facial recognition or fingerprint. At the payment terminal you select the payment account and the amount, after which the transaction can be confirmed.

For now it is not known whether the two other large Dutch banks ING and Rabobank will also follow this step.
