these are the expected features

iOS 16: what’s new next?
Last year’s big iPhone update was iOS 15, and it wasn’t all that exciting. This year looks like a more interesting update is on the way. “What I’ve been told is that the new software – codenamed ‘Sydney’ – is a significant update,” reports trusted Apple analyst Mark Gurman of Bloomberg†
According to the Apple insider, iOS 16 is “packed with changes,” including changes to notifications, improvements to iPad multitasking, and improvements to the Messages and Health app. In Messages will be ‘social media-like functionalities, especially around audio messages’. It is unclear what exactly will change.
Improved lock screen
Gurman does release a little more about the new lock screen that the iPhone with iOS 16 gets. “Apple is planning major improvements to the lock screen, including wallpapers with widget-like capabilities,” he wrote.
This makes the iPhone lock screen a lot more functional. Now you only see your notifications there, and the two bottom buttons give you quick access to the flashlight and camera. So it seems that you can also put widgets in the lock screen of iOS 16. These are blocks of information from apps. For example, the Weather widget shows the weather forecast for the next few hours, and the Calendar widget shows upcoming events.
The Apple analyst also has information about the other operating systems. In macOS, System Preferences is getting a major overhaul, which is more similar to iOS’s Settings app. This involves organizing settings per app. More smart home links are coming for tvOS (the Apple TV operating system). “Apple is also making significant improvements to watchOS,” Gurman says, although it’s not clear which ones.
