GPU: the GeForce RTX 4090 would break the 100 tflops barrier
The matrix is now? When we see what is capable of displaying a PS5 or a Xbox Series X (Matrix demo and Hellblade 2 under Unreal Engine 5 in particular), it is now difficult to imagine what a machine 10 times more powerful could give. However, we will need some imagination because if we are to believe the leaker kopito7kimi, the GeForce RTX 4090 would be the first graphics card to pass the 100 tflops mark (against 10 tflops for the PS5 and 12 tflops for the Series X)!
100 tflops is also 2.5 times more powerful than the 40 tflops of the GeForce RTX 3090 Ti (see table above). Simply incredible ! Such levels of performance make it possible to glimpse VR games or even metaverses with hyper-realistic rendering… still this super-powerful GPU will have to be available when it is launched in a few months, which is far from being won over given the current shortage. It is also impossible to ignore the extraordinary energy expenditure of this type of card (600 W!). The invoice will fly away as much as the perfs!
