Apple would have found the supplier for the periscopic sensor of the iPhone 15 (2023)
LiPhone 14 shouldn’t have a periscopic sensor this year (if the leaks prove to be accurate), but Apple seems determined to equip its next range ofiPhone 15. According to the site The Elec, the Cupertino company has signed an agreement with the South Korean supplier Jahwa Electronics for the production of the famous periscopic sensor. For its part, Jahwa Electronics has just announced the construction of factories for the production of new optical image stabilization (OIS) actuators, work estimated at 191 billion won (155 million dollars). There is therefore no doubt that the production lines of these factories based in the Gumi region will be reserved for future iPhone models.
It should be noted that Apple employees have already visited the facilities of Jahwa Electronics during the first half of 2021. As a reminder, OIS sensors are absolutely essential in the design of a periscopic sensor: the larger the zoom, the more it must stabilize the camera to prevent the slightest movement from adding blur to the shot. Rumors of a periscope sensor in the iPhone are nothing new. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo was the first to mention it at the start of 2020. Apple knows how to take its time…
