46% of AW readers have crypto coins on their phone

Cryptocurrencies: according to some it is a scam or a form of gambling, for others it is a way to (hopefully) get rich. Whether you are for or against: sometimes it seems as if the whole world is busy with crypto. Apparently quite a lot of people among our readers too: 46 percent of the respondents of our poll have crypto coins on their phones.

Cryptocurrencies on your phone

While it is certainly a high number, it seems that people have either ditched their crypto or not voted this time around. We also asked this question exactly one year ago in our AW Poll, to which 69 percent answered that they have crypto coins and keep an eye on the price on their smartphone.

Last year, 11 percent expressed an interest in crypto, which is now 9 percent. In 2021, 14 percent said crypto didn’t appeal to them at all, versus a whopping 38 percent in 2022. 5 percent didn’t know in 2021 and that’s 4 percent in 2022. Where in 2021 not even one percent had a different opinion, this year it was 3 percent. It is therefore striking that more people now indicate that crypto coins do not appeal to them at all. The responses show why:

EricNL has a popular opinion, because he got a lot of likes: “I have nothing at all with crypto currency, one day you count yourself rich and the next day you are hungry again. Maybe I’m a bog when I see more in stocks/bonds and real estate, but then you can at least keep a better eye on how high your returns or losses will turn out. With bitcoin and the like, you actually invest in hot air and one tweet from, for example, Elon Musk can make or break you…..“

Hot air for criminals

So hot air, although B@Zzz sees it differently: “I’ve been really actively involved with crypto for a year, so I have a number of apps on my phone to check my portfolio, trade and keep an eye on prices. hold. A fun hobby that also generates money instead of costs money ” But, is B@Zzz potentially a criminal? Khalid and Aeijsink think that crypto is often used by criminals to launder money.

Of course, not everyone with crypto is criminal: there are probably still more criminals with traditional money. And keep it that way, because that looks a lot nicer from the movies than when it will only be digital transactions in the future.
