‘iPhone 14 (Max) does not have a ProMotion screen with 120 Hz’
Only the iPhone 13 Pro models are equipped with a ProMotion screen, which refreshes the display faster. The iPhone 13 (mini) doesn’t have it. And we do not have to expect a ProMotion screen with the two cheaper iPhone 14 models, an Apple analyst reports.

Well-informed Apple analyst Ross Young says on Twitter that ProMotion will not be expanded to the full iPhone 14 series. A screen with 120 Hz therefore remains an exclusivity of the more advanced Pro models. This means that ProMotion is not yet making its way to the cheaper iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Max.
Young’s tweet quickly follows a rumor claiming that the entire iPhone 14 series will have a ProMotion screen. According to analyst Young, this information is incorrect. He suggests that Apple would have liked to make this possible, but that the production chain is not ready yet.
The analyst reports that the Chinese manufacturer BOE should have become the supplier of the 120 HZ screens for the cheaper iPhone 14 models. However, the company does not have enough production capacity. As a result, it would only be possible to equip the cheaper iPhone models with ProMotion from 2023.
ProMotion
The iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max are the first iPhones with ProMotion. Allows the screen to refresh faster (up to 120 Hz). This is especially noticeable when swiping and scrolling, where the display looks smoother. ProMotion can also lower the refresh rate (to 10 Hz) to save battery.

The cheaper iPhone 13 and iPhone 13 (mini) do not have this ProMotion technology. The screen always refreshes at 60 frames per second (60 Hz), no matter what you do with your iPhone. Incidentally, you notice the difference especially if you are used to a ProMotion screen. If you have never held a smartphone with 120 Hz in your hands, then you will not miss much.
