Most viewed video ever on YouTube breaks record
Great, the most watched video on YouTube has hit another milestone and is breaking record after record.
You will be surprised which video it is. But I’m sure you’ll recognize the melody quickly. If you listen to it again after reading this article, it will be in your head for the rest of the day. It’s (of course) ‘Baby Shark’. Billboard reports that Pinkfong’s catchy nursery rhyme has become the first video to be viewed 10 billion times on YouTube.

The current number two is Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito”, which overtook “Baby Shark” as the most popular video in November 2020. But it has stuck at ‘only’ 7.7 billion. Baby Shark’s attractive and can’t get out of your head tune is from 2016.
It comes back every time, for example through covers of celebrities such as James Corden and Bebe Rexha. In addition, “Baby Shark” has benefited from a 2019 tour, a viral dance challenge, a spot in Just Dance 2020, and a Nickelodeon TV show that premiered in 2021. Simply put, Pinkfong has kept the song in the spotlight. So good marketing!

We’re not done with the song just yet. No doubt you will hear him at the mini disco on the campsite for years to come, but there will also be a movie. Nickelodeon has these in store for us. There’s even an NFT collection if you’re determined to merge two internet trends. It can be a long time before another video comes out that has the same catchy tune and the number of views viewed.
