Uninstall this app immediately! It can rob you of tens of euros
Malware Joker attacks again. Phone Arena reports that an application called Color Messages has been removed from the Google Play store, which allowed users to add emoji to text messages. In the meantime, however, it managed to get 500,000 downloads.
The application malware made it possible to access the contact list and subscribe users to paid services via SMS. The application also appears to have communicated with Russian servers. This is a classic Joker behavior, but unfortunately it is difficult to detect it in time. All applications must be checked before being added to the Google Play store, but those infected with the Joker seem credible at first glance.
They do the damage only after the first start and it may take a while for the user to find out that something has happened. Especially if the attackers rob victims of small amounts or if the user pays for the phone in the form of an invoice. In addition, the Joker hides the application icon, so it’s easy to forget about it.
Be careful what you install
Fortunately, you will no longer find the Color Messages application in the store, but other malicious applications that have not yet been detected may be waiting there. Since Google has not yet figured out how to catch the Joker malware in time, you need to be careful about what you install. Especially in the case of applications from small and unknown developers (when installing popular applications such as Google or Facebook, the risk of virus infection is low).
We recommend that you review the application’s ratings and comments before downloading it. If it has a very low rating, you should avoid it. In this case, it was immediately clear from the comments that users were subscribed to the paid services almost immediately.
