With Google Maps you will soon see how busy it is in a certain neighborhood
Don’t like crowds and want to avoid crowds? Or are you on holiday and do you want to know where it is lively? Google Maps will show it soon, because the app comes with a kind of traffic radar.

Google Maps shows crowds in the neighbourhood
In Google Maps it has been possible for some time to see how busy it is in a certain location, for example in the supermarket or an amusement park. Google will soon add something new to the app, the search giant announced on its website. A new feature – called Area Busyness – helps you see how busy a particular neighborhood is.
By zooming in on a neighborhood in Google Maps, you can see whether it is busy there. The map then shows ‘Busy area’. In addition to the current state of affairs, it is possible to see at what times a certain neighborhood is normally at its busiest. This way you can quickly see where you need to be to visit the popular areas in a city, or where you should not be to avoid crowds.
The feature isn’t out yet, but Google says it will go live “in time for this holiday season,” for both iOS and Android. It is still unclear whether the option will be rolled out worldwide immediately, or whether the ‘printing radar’ will only be available in the Netherlands and Belgium at a later date.
Directory
Google is adding something new to its navigation app. The Directory tab helps you quickly find your way around large buildings such as airports, shopping malls, train stations and more. You’ll see what types of stores are located in a building, and you’ll find more useful information, such as whether a location is open, what floor it’s on, and more.
