5 things we want in the new smartphone
With the Galaxy S21, S21 Plus and S21 Ultra, Samsung has already brought three exciting cell phones onto the market. With the Galaxy S21 FE, however, another model is just around the corner. It wasn’t presented today, but it should actually still appear. Our wishes for the new smartphone are clear.
Galaxy S21 FE: What Samsung needs to improve
Admittedly, the Galaxy S20 FE turned out to be a pretty good smartphone in the test. But there was still here and there some little things that we would improve on this year’s generation. Samsung should really do that, because the A-Class in the form of the Galaxy A52 (5G) is now so strong that one should not rest on the laurels of last year.
- Choice of material: There was already a step backwards with the Galaxy S21 compared to the S20. The back is made of plastic, but the frame is still made of metal. Samsung should take exactly the same step with the Galaxy S21 FE. After all, it is an S-class phone and not an A-class phone. A metal frame would suit the smartphone much better so that it really shows that it belongs to the S-Class.
- Display: Even if the Galaxy S20 FE already has a 120 Hz panel, the quality differences to the Galaxy S21 (and also to the S20) are clearly noticeable. It’s not as crystal clear and bright. Samsung should improve on the new generation, because the current A-Class has gone a step further here too. You could also just take over the display of the S21, which we would be absolutely satisfied with.
- Avoid processor chaos: Samsung has really done itself no service with the Galaxy S20 FE and the choice of processors. A problematic Exynos chip was installed in the 4G model, while the Snapdragon chip, which was better at the time, was used in the 5G model. Samsung has now even seen this and launched the S20 FE in the 4G version with a Snapdragon processor. Samsung should definitely avoid this confusing strategy this year. Fortunately, the Exynos chip in the Galaxy S21 is convincing, so hopefully you can’t wreak havoc.
- Don’t “forget” the power supply: Samsung shouldn’t make the mistake of leaving out the power adapter on this model, as is the case with the Galaxy S21 phones. Here you are welcome to orientate yourself on the A-Class, where the power supply is still included.
- Maintain memory expansion: The same applies to the possibility of expanding the memory. This option should definitely remain with the “Fan Edition”. The lack of a microSD slot in the normal S21 is a big disadvantage.

Samsung has already done a lot right with the Galaxy S20 FE
Otherwise, that’s basically it. The design, camera and battery life have already convinced the Galaxy S20 FE. If Samsung removes the few criticisms of the new generation, the Galaxy S21 FE would be a real insider tip. The cell phone must just not become too expensive – also and especially with regard to the Galaxy A52 (5G).
