Twitter restrictions: how to bypass the new limitations?
Contents
Why does Twitter limit the number of posts that can be viewed?
This has been the big question since the first limitations announced by Musk. Why did the social network decide to restrict the number of tweets a user can consult? According to the big boss of the platform, it would be a dark story of scraping data that would overload Twitter’s servers.
To address extreme levels of data scraping & system manipulation, we’ve applied the following temporary limits:
– Verified accounts are limited to reading 6000 posts/day
– Unverified accounts to 600 posts/day
– New unverified accounts to 300/day— Elon Musk (@elonmusk) July 1, 2023
Besides that, it is impossible to ignore the opportunistic aspect of these restrictions. For the company, it is once again a question of enhancing the interest of paid accounts, which, since their launch, have struggled to convince the majority of users. Finally, the last hypothesis on the board, we learn that the Musk-style social network would have refused, at the beginning of June, to pay his bills GoogleCloud.
How to bypass the limit on Twitter?
Well, that’s all very well, but how to return to a classic use of Twitter? There are two solutions for this: go back to the old version of Twitter, or go through a VPN.
Use OldTwitter
If you want to use Twitter without limitation, you can turn to Old Twitter, a browser extension for Mac and Windows. This gives you the possibility to use the 2015 interface, without any limitation applied. It is available on Mozilla, Chromium And edge.
However, this extension is not present on Safari, Brave or even Opera.
Go through a VPN
Using a VPN is also a viable solution to circumvent restrictions. CyberGhost is the cheapest VPN around since it only costs €2.11/month. For comparison, NordVPN, which is the best known of VPNs, is displayed at €4.49/month for equivalent service. Make your choice !
- Install your favorite VPN application on your PC, tablet or smartphone. If you don’t have a VPN, you can choose one on our comparison page.
- Log in to the service.
- Select a server outside Europe, the area being particularly affected by the new Twitter policy.
- Log back into Twitter.
There you go, you can read more than 1,000 tweets a day!
Meanwhile, Twitter continues to sink into crisis. If for the moment, a majority of users seem to remain faithful to the blue bird, there is still a slight acceleration in migrations to other platforms.
We have just launched a new, improved version of TweetDeck. All users can continue to access their saved searches & workflows via https://t.co/2WwL3hNVR2 by selecting “Try the new TweetDeck” in the bottom left menu.
Some notes on getting started and the future of the product…

A trend that could accelerate after the company’s latest announcement ruling that Tweetdeck, a free tweet scheduling tool, will now be restricted to paid accounts.
