Dragon: Hitman developers are working on an Xbox Series exclusive
The lawsuit against the FTC To Microsoft in connection with the acquisition ofActivision Blizzard gives us its daily batch of crisp information. The revelation of the day concerns the studio IO Interactiveto whom we owe in particular the series of games Hitman. And so, the documents provided to the judge during the trial indicate that IOI has already been working for several years on “Project Dragon”a future exclusive for the Xbox Series (also on PC).
IOI had confirmed at the start of the year that they were working on a AAA-level fantasy RPG, a title that could well be this mysterious Project Dragon. The studio then specified that this new game would be able to “shaping the future for years to come of our studio and the relationships we have built with our players”. Damn! The documents further state that Project Dragon will be published directly by Xbox Game Studios Publishing. Note that IOI is also working on a Project 007, another title exclusive to the Xbox Series (the game had already been announced, without further details).
This new information also reveals the differences between Sony and Microsoft in the management of exclusives from third-party publishers, Sony generally preferring to pay for temporary (or even permanent) exclusives for games already in development, while Microsoft orders a project calibrated for the Game Pass, like Flight Simulator (developed in collaboration with Asobo), As Dusk Falls and therefore the two current IO projects.
