New generation of Samsung flip phones coming

Did you also have a phone that could fold in half? It did get thick and was never comfortable in the pocket. But it was cool. Pull your phone (hopefully) smoothly out of your pocket and flip it open in one movement and put it to your ear. How easily impressed we were in those days long gone by millennial standards. A regular mobile phone was so much easier and thinner, but it lacked that wow factor. Do you want that feeling back? Then there is good news: Samsung comes with a new generation of flip phones!

New generation Galaxy Flip and Z Fold coming

At the end of July there will be another big presentation in Soul. Samsung Galaxy Unpacked is a semi-annual event in which Samsung shows what they have been working on recently. This year they will also exhibit the latest generation of flip phones.

The technology behind folding screens is still quite young. In 2019 we saw the first foldable smartphones. That launch did not run smoothly. The reports about the lack of reliability just did not rain from the sky. A few years later, reliability has improved considerably. Yet not everyone is convinced that we are there. But we have not seen calamities on the scale of the Samsung debacle in 2019 again.

We do not have many details about the new smartphones at the time of writing. If we are to believe the rumor mill, the new generation will receive a few significant upgrades. Namely a less present folding edge in the screen, a larger cover screen and a phone that closes better. The exact date of the event has not yet been announced. If there are any shocking revelations from Seoul by then, we will of course keep you informed.
