What does ‘from 6 to 10 centimeters dilated in 20 minutes’ sound like? Kek Mama columnist Sanne Akkerman, known for her hilarious Instagram account, shares a rather intense sound fragment of her delivery in the podcast Zus & Zo.

And that turns out to be very recognizable for many women.

Flash delivery

Sanne’s daughter Amélie was born in April 2022 during a ‘flash birth’ of two and a half hours. In the podcast Zus & Zo by sisters Elise and Vita Boers, she talks about the lightning-fast, but intense delivery. And not only that, she also shares a sound clip of the rapid dilation. In twenty minutes Sanne went from six centimeters to full dilation. Vita, who has to give birth for the first time soon, doesn’t know what she hears when Sanne plays the sound. “How intense,” she replies. The weather is also confronting for Sanne. “It always spontaneously tears me up, because it was so intense. It’s nice that you have a short intense delivery, but that pain! You cannot comprehend it.”

Animal scream

The ‘animal screams’ of Sanne, who gave birth to her daughter at home, lasted twenty minutes. “I really felt like an animal, a kind of wolf that was moaning. My children were also at home, so my mother-in-law grabbed the children right away, like: they can’t hear this.” The windows also closed. “I also said to my neighbors later: sorry if you heard me, but I had no choice.” Sanne is not the only one who quickly went to full dilation. ‘Haha very recognizable that long scream! When I hear that I go all the way back in time’, someone reacts under the fragment. Another writes: ‘Ooooh recognizable. Here also from 5 cm to baby on the stomach in 35 minutes’.

Intense childbirth

Sanne, also known as Laviesanne, gave birth to her third child, daughter Amélie, in April 2022. The girl had a rough start and had to be resuscitated after birth. Sanne then said on Instagram: “Especially the first days after giving birth, I had a lot of reliving the crucial moments. My dilation that went way too fast, the falling heartbeat, her shoulder that was stuck, the moment 112 had to be called, the chaos and the panic.” She continues: “But I think that every woman relives the first days of childbirth. Talking about it definitely helps. And of course the fact that it all ended well.”
