The remake of Prince of Persia has been postponed indefinitely by Vortex
The end of the week is framed by one big surprise. Ubisoft’s developers briefly announced that they are postponing the expected remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time indefinitely. This is the second shift in the release date – for the first time the date changed from January to March – but the current change is much more serious. Ubisoft does not seem to have resisted the pressure of outraged fans, and the message supplementing today’s report indicates an effort to rework the criticized parts. Since the announcement last September, it has been mainly a graphic presentation, which at first glance does not seem very flattering, despite the later explanation that it is an intention not to distract the remake too much from the original game.
“Ever since we announced Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake in September, we’ve seen a wave of reactions from you to the beloved series. It’s your enthusiasm and support that drives the development teams to create the best games, “says a message that appeared on social networks. Developers from Ubisoft Mumbai and Pune then explain that they have decided to postpone the release to later dateto be able to deliver a remake that stays true to the original, but will look modern fresh enough. It is therefore an indirect confirmation that Ubisoft really received a lot of criticism of the visual pages and animations, and we would not be surprised if pictures or videos from the game arrived during the year, which will not be very reminiscent of the title introduced last year.
“We understand that this news is surprising, but we will continue to inform you about the development of the game, and in the meantime we thank you all for your continued support,” the Ubisoft people conclude. Specifically, a “team of developers” is signed under it, which was also the target of criticism until Ubisoft’s headquarters had to defend it. None of the pair of Indian branches has yet led their own project, which the players pointed out in embarrassment. However, they were at least partially reassured by the words of the original author of Prince of Persia, Jordan Mechner, who also stood up for the developer and confirmed that this is a faithful remake, which will also be supplemented by a classic from 1989.
So let’s see how many of these plans will last until release…
