‘Suddenly my son was in the living room’

Lost track of each other during the tropical years, passion on the back burner and a very nice family friend. It was a bit too cozy with Marijn’s affair. Until she was caught by her son.
Marijn (37) is married to Rick (41) and mother of Arthur (9) and Victor (6):
“Our kids call our best friends uncle and aunt. We like warm, because family is more than just blood, isn’t it? We met Bart when he was going through a divorce, and he’s been a family friend ever since.
A very nice family friend, to whom I sought a little more rapprochement than usual when my husband drowned in his work for a period. No excuse, and Rick and I put it behind us, but the fact is Bart and I let it go beyond what was right.

On a low note
I thought the children were asleep when Bart and I ended up tightly entwined on the couch after some wine. It didn’t come to real sex, but I was in my bra when Arthur suddenly appeared in the living room. He allowed himself to be put to bed without a complaint, but the next morning at breakfast he said: ‘Hey mom, Uncle Bart and you are kissing naked, so gross!’ Rick almost fell off his chair, but somehow saw it coming.
“Bart and you are kissing naked, so gross!”
After more than six months of couples therapy, Rick and I now realize that we were both not doing well. Uncle Bart is on the back burner, he also wishes us our happiness. And we never heard anything about the time Arthur caught Rick and me naked.”
