The new 3D sensor below the display supports face unlocking

Company Trinamix introduced a new 3D sensor, which is under YOU ARE display and supports face unlocking. The new sensor follows a constant trend magnifying screens a shrinking the frame around the display. The current hardware range of front cameras below the display does not allow unlocking with a face. In contrast, 3D face recognition already exists on smartphones such as the iPhone 12 and Pixel 4, however the camera is not below the display. Trinamix wants to solve this problem. The new sensor could bring larger diagonals and more powerful displays with built-in unlocking below the display.

The company said its new sensor works because of the way the data is used. Except infrared scanning uses sensor technology “Beam Profile Analysis“ k distance measurement a surface recognition. According to Trinamix, the sensor offers the same level of performance as conventional systems, which now support face unlocking. The new sensor should be sufficient secure for mobile payments and even offers skin detection to make sure a real person unlocks the phone instead of a photo or scale model.

As with selfie cameras below the display, there is a chance that this method of unlocking with a face can be problematic at first and relatively untidy. And even though there is a sensor under the display that supports face unlocking, it’s an interesting idea, we are still in the coronavirus agewhen wearing veils directly prevents the face unlock function. However, the sensor could find its use in the future. Trinamix has not yet said which phones will contain the sensor under the display. Phone manufacturers are now testing the sensor and by the first half of 2022 could place it on the market.
